Installation Instructions

For TVs Already Connected to the Internet

Smart TV owners that have their TV connected to the Internet may easily check for firmware updates using the on-screen TV menu.

Using the remote control, press MENU:

  • Select the SETTINGS submenu.
  • Select the NETWORK submenu.
  • Select FIRMWARE UPGRADE.

The TV will automatically check if there is a newer firmware version available for download. If a newer version is found, simply follow the on-screen directions to update the TV firmware.

Notes
  • Do not interrupt the power to the TV during the update.
  • When the update is complete, the TV will automatically turn off and restart.
For TVs Without Internet Connections

Owners may manually check the firmware version in their TV (both Smart TV and Standard TV) and update the TV firmware by downloading the latest version from the Hisense website. Note: this procedure may be followed regardless of the firmware version loaded in the TV; if the TV has the latest version a message will be displayed during the update advising the user that their TV is already up to date.

To check the firmware version in the TV

  • Using the remote control, press MENU
  • Select the SETTINGS submenu.
  • Select VERSION INFO.

The current firmware version will be displayed on-screen in the format: V##.##.##&.&#### (E.g. V00.01.128a.C0910).

To update the TV, the latest firmware must be saved to a USB Memory Stick:

  1. Connect a USB Memory Stick with at least 200MB of available space to your PC.
  2. Right click the Zip File above containing the latest firmware for your TV and select "Save as".
  3. Select the root directory of the USB Memory Stick as the destination (for example, if your USB Memory Stick is identified by your PC as "SneakerNet (I:)", select "I:\" as the location to save the Zip File).
  4. Once the download is complete, open the Windows File Manager and go to the USB Memory Stick.
  5. To decompress the downloaded file, you may double click the Zip File and click on "UnZip" or you may right click the Zip File and select "Extract". Note: in either case, be sure to decompress the file to the root directory (E.g. "I:\")
  6. After decompressing the file, you will see a file with an extension of ".pkg" or ".bin" in the root directory of the USB Memory Stick. Note: do not change the name or extension of this file.
  7. To remove the USB Memory Stick from your PC, safely disconnect the USB Memory Stick by right clicking the USB plug with the green color check mark icon on the Windows taskbar and clicking your USB Memory Stick in the device listing. When prompted, remove the USB Memory Stick from your PC.
  8. To update the TV firmware, turn the TV on and insert the USB Memory Stick into the USB port located on the rear panel of the TV. Note: if your TV has multiple USB ports, please use USB-1.
  9. The TV will automatically check if the firmware on the USB Memory Stick is a newer version. If a newer version is confirmed, simply follow the on-screen directions to update the TV firmware.
Notes
  • Do not interrupt the power to the TV during the update.
  • When the update is complete, the TV will automatically turn off and restart.

Installation Instructions

Please note: The .zip file you download here contains both a PDF with these instructions and another .zip file (update.zip) that is the actual firmware file. Update.zip is what needs to be on your USB drive.
